Balance the graphics and text on a page. It's easy to get carried away with lots of images and animations, but they can make a page very hard to read. When you're considering your layout, remember that images are a major part of the design, not just afterthoughts.

anyway, your girlie should be writing stories! do you guys do that together? she dictates, you write, then she illustrates the story and you make a little book that you can read aloud together!

Please don't let your week bring you down, I've been going through the same exact thing. I somehow disgustingly managed to gain 9 lbs between Halloween & Christmas [Something about letting myself believe baking tons of sweets for my kids & candy made me a great Mom] and have been determined to take it off (and then some) since New Years. I managed to get down to -8, which should be fantastic but all I can think about is if I didnt gain those darn 9 lbs in teh first place I've been working out everyday, running 15 miles a week and eating way beyond good. Then ... this week .... I gained .2 oz instead of losing. Uggh!! Why can't weight come off based on teh amount of effort we out into it? Seriously I did all the right things, I watched Biggest Loser, I even walked 3 miles while doing it, so what gives? Any way, I'm trying my darndest to keep my spirits up through this tough week in hopes next week will see some improvement. Since I do weigh ins on Fridays too, maybe we can be of some sort of motivation to each other to help stay on track. I'm looking to lose 18 more pounds (17 more than the 9 I gained) so I could use all the support I can get. This number will take me back to my pre pregnancy weight (pre all 3 kids) so I'm excited to get back to my old self.

I always did theme parties for my daughter at home. One of our favorites was a garden tea party. I bought decent plastic cups, plates, trays & serving stuff at the Dollar store and we had sandwiches and punch outside in the back yard then played water balloon games and did a piñata. The cake was a big flower. The girls loved it and it was low cost.

I absolutely agree with you; if staying home with the kids makes you crazy, it takes away a lot of the joy you should be having.

Making time for yourself is essential, not just to please yourself, but to make you a better mommy and also teach your kids that self-respect is a good thing.

Great post, Kelly! I just had my first pedicure for the first time in 4 years and WOW it brought me back to the days when I actually had money to spend (though I probably should have been saving it...)

Think I'll try that bath in the dark idea. I've never done that. :)

this is very much where I am at at the moment as well. After starting to work for Starbucks I gained some weight (not a huge amount, but I was still appalled, I call it my starbucks pudge), and determined to start some better habits. At the same time my man is doing some hard core dieting and exercising, which encourages me to be healthier. I'm not being as hard core, but trying to make wiser choices and be a little more balanced. It's hard to create new habits, but worth it!
